There is probably such a book of my favorite writer, which would not surprise me. If someone wants to start their adventure with Nabokov expects calm idyllic Russian climates may abandons its activities at the outset. In Nabokov's because one can not guard against a schizophrenic split (oh, it would be good if only it was split), before something so complicated that it almost difficult to comprehend. However, if someone likes a sense of detachment from reality and the fate of this specific chuckle, it is taking Nabokov's novel to hit the hand perfectly.
Real Life of Sebastian Knight is another twisted tale of achievements Master paradox. The story of how a mysterious V (well, one has to mysterious combination of the initials in the novels of Nabokov's getting used to) collect materials for a biography of his deceased brother Sebastian. This matches the deceased was reportedly well-known writer, author of perhaps a few books, but it is apparently significant. But as it turns out in the process of searching Knight's name is not completely known in the wide world. And he Sebastian undiscovered secret. Yes as a lifelong brothers were not able to reach each other by isolation Sebastian, so his life was closed, well-protected chamber. V but not discouraged by the lack of imminent progress in collecting materials and evidence on the size of his brother. He goes to many, unpredictable, even for himself to conduct at the end of the history to reflect on the existence of Sebastian. Ask the reader to puzzle, which looks out over the corner by the book, whether writing about V. Sebastian, or Sebastian for V?
could delve into this point in comparison Real life ... to other works of the writer but for the uninitiated is a pretty boring part of the summary, which does perhaps not encourage you to read. But those who have read anything Nabokov know what I mean, they know that in his books, strange things come out unexpectedly, often as part of the wardrobe of overloaded suitcases, as slippery earthworms after rain. Such is their lot, and happen so often that you can not keep up with their diagnosis, can not wait for the longer end, which, despite the conviction of the reader, and so it will surprise him and give some relief (the illusion of one who thinks so.)
The fact that our hero Sebastian was born in the same year that Nabokov, as he had a governess and just emigrated from Russia and studied at Cambridge, we had enough after the initial understanding of the other heroes (V), have experienced confusion self. Sometimes it is impossible to guess who tells the whole story, because the narrative in an invisible way, seems to move from one brother to another. Here, nothing is real, nothing is real, and yet everything is true. "Maybe the real effect is only Post-mortem? "Who is who in the novel, Nabokov? Can anyone guess?
